A delegation of the Punjab government led by deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal would meet leaders of the Pakistani Punjab government on November 5 to push for renaming of Lahore's Shadman Chowk after Shaheed Bhagat Singh. The decision to rename the chowk after the revolutionary has been put on hold under pressure from religious extremist groups.
Shiromani Akali Dal's (SAD) Rajya Sabha member Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa on Friday said that while he would go to Lahore to take part in the SAARC speakers' conference from November 3, Sukbir will also be in Islamabad at the concluding session on November 5.

Dhindsa underlined that Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru had sacrificed their lives for the independence of the whole of India, which included what is now Pakistan.

On the 105th birth anniversary of Bhagat Singh on September 28, the Pakistani Punjab government had decided to rename the chowk after the martyr.
