A day after a Sunam resident died of swine flu at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana, the deadly virus claimed yet another life on Friday. The latest victim has been identified as Sukhdev Singh of Kaleka village in Barnala district, who succumbed to the flu at a Patiala hospital.

On Thursday, Satish Kumar of Sunam near Sangrur had died of H1N1 virus.

Barnala civil surgeon Dr Baldev Raj said after the death of Sukhdev, teams of doctors have been sent to examine people who had come in contact with the victim ever since he was taken ill. He said that  victim's brother Ranjit Singh is suspected to have swine flu symptoms and has been referred to Government Rajindera Hospital, Patiala. "We have provided Tami Flu tablets to all residents of victim's village  and his relatives as a precautionary step," he said.

Sukhdev had been found suffering from flu symptoms five days ago at the Civil Hospital, Dhanaula.
