Two gangs of chain snatchers busted,woman among 4 held.

The Patiala police on Monday claimed to have busted two gangs of chain snatchers with the arrest of four persons, including a local couple, and recovered ornaments worth Rs. 2.7 lakh and three motorcycles from their possession.

Giving information here, Patiala senior superintendent of police (SSP) HS Mann told mediapersons that the accused were identified as Gurpreet JP, Banti Malhotra, Prab Thind and his wife Reena Thind.

He further said police had received a total of 45 complaints of chain snatching in various police stations of the district following which special teams were formed to nab the culprits.

The SSP added that the Rajpura police had also arrested a Rajinder Singh allegedly for running a racket of providing fake documents like registration cards for vehicles.

Mann further said police managed to arrest the accused with the support of victims.

Meanwhile, Mann honoured Rupali Bansal with the Commendation Award for helping police in arresting the chain snatchers.
