Two held with 5 kg opium

The Fatehgarh Sahib police claimed to have arrested two persons allegedly with 5 kg opium.


Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Gurmeet Singh Chauhan on Friday said a team of crime investigating agency (CIA) staff, Sirhind, led by inspector Dalbir Singh Grewal arrested Mohinder Singh of Subram village in Tarn Taran district and Dinesh Chand of Salah village in Pithoragarh district, Uttarakhand, when they were on way to Sirhind in a truck after procuring opium from Rajasthan.

Police recovered 4 kg opium from Mohinder Singh and 1 kg from Dinesh Chand.

A case under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was registered against the accused at the Sirhind police station
