The four accused were identified as Manjit Kaur, wife of PO Shinderpal Singh, PO's father-in-law Mukha Singh and brothers-in-law Krishan Kumar and Gorkha Ram, all residents of Nabipur village in the district.

Nabipur station in charge Kamaljit Singh said the CIA came to know that the PO booked in the murder case dating back to November 17, 2011, was residing at his in-laws' house at Nabipur. When the police team raided the house, the four arrested accused alerted the PO and he escaped, the station in charge said.

Meanwhile, Nabipur station house officer said the accused family members allegedly distracted the police by arguing to prevent the police from following the PO. The four were arrested and produced in court to seek remand for further investigation.
