Woman, brother booked for kidnapping, raping minor

The police have booked a man and his sister on charges of kidnapping and raping a 16-year-old girl in Cheema Mandi, near here, on Sunday.


The suspects have been identified as Manpreet Singh and his married sister Seera. Investigation officer Kalyan Singh said the police have registered an FIR on the complaint of victim's father.

The medical report has confirmed sexual intercourse with the minor victim.

The police said Manpreet allegedly kidnapped the victim on the pretext of marrying her and took the girl to his sister's house in Barnala district on Saturday.

On Sunday afternoon, the girl came back and narrated the whole incident to her parents, following which the family approached the police.

"We have started investigations into the matter and raids are on to nab the suspects," he said.
