In the hour-long concert organised by the Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Among Youth (SPIC MACAY), tabla maestro Durjan Bhaumic and the world's only woman pakhawaj artiste, Chitrangana Agle Rehswal, were her accompanists.

Rao developed her liking for Indian classical music during postgraduate studies in music at the University of Amsterdam. In 1994, she arrived in India and started learning Indian classical music from exponents. School principal Jagpreet Singh gave away mementos to the artistes.
