Patriotic vibes on campuses

The city's school campuses were on Wednesday abuzz with patriotic spirit on the eve of Independence Day. Songs, dances and gaiety marked the occasion.

Khalsa College Public School

The function at Khalsa College Public School (KCPS) was dedicated to the freedom struggle and its heroes. It included patriotic songs by children of the junior wing, who held Tricolour flags. School principal Sarvjit Kaur Brar appreciated the play "Dharti Punjab Di" based on the contribution of Punjabis to the freedom struggle. She gave away prizes to the winners of different competitions. The programme ended with National Anthem.

Shri Ram Ashram

At Shri Ram Ashram Senior Secondary School, Satnam Avenue, Batala Road, students and teachers presented patriotic songs and dances in a cultural programme that also included quiz, declamation, theatre performance, and poetry recitation. In the morning assembly, students eulogised freedom fighters in songs. Principal Neetu, school's education adviser OP Bhardwaj, and school's governing council president Balbir Bajaj addressed the students.

Indian Public School

The students of Indian Public School, Airport Road, Amritsar, celebrated by raising money to buy sports kits for the children of Chabal Khurd village in Tarn Taran district. Motivating their counterparts to stay away from drugs and take up sport for their healthy future, they handed over the kits to block samiti chairman Harwant Singh and samiti member Manjit Singh.
