Patwari arrested for taking bribe in Sangrur

The vigilance bureau (VB) on Wednesday nabbed a Patwari, posted at Khanauri, and his private assistant Kuldeep Singh while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a person in Khanauri.

Giving this information here, vigilance deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Pritipal Singh said that Kulwant Singh of Khanauri had filed a complaint that Patwari Bhura Singh was demanding a bribe of Rs 10,000 for the mutation of his land.

Working on the complaint, the vigilance team, led by DSP Pritpal Singh arrested Bhura Singh and his assistant along with Rs 10,000 in the presence of Ajay Kumar, SDO, PWD (B&R) and Harvinder Singh, clerk, PWD. Other members of the team included ASI Kuldeep Singh, ASI Sukhdarshan Singh and Shamsher Singh.

After the arrest, Bhura Singh was brought to Sangrur. He will be produced before the court on Thursday.
