It is a matter of pride for Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) as five women faculty members have been invited to present papers in an international conference to be held in the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Pakistan.
A two-day event, the conference will be held on May 29- 30 and the theme for which is ‘nutritional therapies against lifestyle related disorders’.
While Jaswinder Kaur Sangha, dean of h o me science colle ge, Amarjeet Kaur, department head of food science and technolo g y and Poonam Aggarwal, senior vegetable technologist from the same department left for Pakistan on Tuesday morning, the remaining two members namely Balwinder Kaur Sadana and Kiran Grover, senior nutritionist and senior extension specialist from the food and nutrition department will leave once they get their visa approval from Pakistan High Commission, New Delhi.
They said it was a great opportunity to participate in an international conference especially in when it is the neighbouring country, Pakistan.
Jaswinder Sangha who will be a key speaker and the chief representative of the delegation added, “Conferences on such topics are a must across the globe as it is mainly the sedentary lifestyle which has become the main reason for various health problems.”
“We look forward to an exchange our ideas and opinions which could play a vital role in enhancing our knowledge on this subject,” he further said.
BS Dhillon, Punjab Agricultural University vice chancellor said, “I am sure it will be a great experience for all the participants from our university. It is a great opportunity to be invited for an international conference”.
