Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) released dates for booking stalls at the Kisan Mela to be held on March 20 and 21 at the university campus. The booking will be done on March 2, 4 and 13 at the Farmers Service Centre (FSC) of the university. A mela layout map has also been released.
The Centre of Communication and International Linkages (CCIL) of the university, along with the department of extension, revealed the guidelines, under which exhibitors are not allowed to use music, including sound of audio visual aids and dance drama.
Agro-based companies will be given priority on non-agro based firms for stall allotment. All exhibitors will have to abide by stall opening and closing timings, which are from 8 am till 6 pm on both the mela days. Watering, ploughing and digging are strictly prohibited.
For a general stall, the price has been set for Rs 32,000, while to put any hoardings to advertise the stall, the price is Rs 14,000. For more details, other than the PAU website, CCIL can also be contacted. Rates and regulations for other mela days scheduled to held at various other towns and cities of Punjab will also be revealed soon.
Magazines at 50% discount for farmers at mela
The university will sell its 'Progressive Farming' magazine published in both Punjabi and English at 50% discount at these mela days, said additional director of communication, PAU, Chander Mohan.
"The rate is Rs 200 for yearly subscription of the magazine. If any farmer subscribes it on the two mela days (March 20 and 21) or at other Kisan Melas or divas days at other places in Punjab, they will get at Rs 100 after discount of 50%. This is aimed at popularising the magazine among farmers as much as possible. All the articles carried in the magazine are for benefit of the farmers," he said.
"The difference between 'melas' and 'divas' is that, while melas are organised at a grand level, 'divas' are organised at a small level. To advertise these upcoming melas, the university has already informed all village panchyats to inform the farmers about it," he added.
