PAU prof Rippen Gill passes away

Rippen Gill Jassal, wife of Ramandeep Singh Jassal, associate professor, the department of human development, College of Home Science, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), passed away on Monday morning due to brain haemorrhage. She was admitted to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital.

A condolence meeting was held at the college where tributes were paid to the departed soul.

Jaswinder Kaur Sangha, dean, College of Home Science, said the cremation would take place on December 2 at 2.30 pm at the cremation ground in Sunet village, BRS Nagar. Jassal was recently appointed as a national resource person by the United Nations Population Fund and the ministry of human resource under the adolescent educational programme.

In 2013, she was given “the best creative writer award” by the Indian Psycho-metric and Educational Research Association.”

“Popular among students, she took leadership in most extra- curricular activities. During the youth festival this year, all creative dances were prepared by Jassal,” said Jatinder Kaur Gulati, professor, the PAU. Her husband Ramandeep Singh Jassal is also an associate professor at School of Business Studies, the PAU.
