PAU student, accomplices booked for molesting BTech students

The police on Thursday booked a Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) student and his accomplices for molesting and assaulting two girls on the university campus on March 24.

The accused have been identified as Rajwinder Kalyan, a student of BSc (agriculture), his accomplice Amandeep Singh Kahlon and an unidentified man.

The PAU police have registered a case under sections 354 (molestation), 323 (voluntary causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) against the accused in the matter.

The case was registered following the statement of Shiv Karan Singh, who is a student of BTech (food technology) at PAU.

In his complaint, Shiv, a resident of Baba Bakala of Amritsar, stated that on March 24, he was sitting with his classmate Navreet and Tanvi Sharma. All of a sudden, the accused appeared there and started misbehaving with them. The accused caught Navreet from her arm and also slapped Tanvi Sharma, he alleged.

The complainant stated that when he intervened, the accused also thrashed him and fled.

Sub-inspector Surinder Chopra, station house officer (SHO) PAU police station, said, “The police have launched a manhunt for the arrest of the accused.”
