The students of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) clinched gold medal in group song (Indian), light vocal, poster making, and silver medal in clay modeling during the 15th All India Inter Agricultural Universities Youth Festival 2014-15. The fest was organized by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, at National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal, Haryana from March 17 to 22. The PAU students also bagged fourth position in cartooning event.
PAU vice-chancellor Baldev Singh Dhillon congratulated the students for bringing laurels to the varsity. PAU director students' welfare Ravinder Kaur Dhaliwal said the festival aimed at encouraging the students to participate with true competitive spirit. She said the sports and co-curricular activities develop self-confidence and shape up the personality of the students. She also attended the youth festival and expressed her satisfaction over the discipline and dedication shown by the PAU students.
Giving details, welfare officer Satvir Singh said, “As many as 47 agricultural universities from across the country participated in the youth fest.”
PAU contingent, consisting of 27 members, participated in more than 17 events pertaining to literary, fine arts, theatre, music and dance, he said.
