PCR cops rewarded for nabbing snatcher, thief

The four Chandigarh (PCR), communication, officials were rewarded with commendation certificates and rs 1, 000 cash each for nabbing a snatcher, and a thief while stealing wheels of auto-rickshaw.

The PCR officials who were rewarded are Pala Ram, head constable, Pardeep, constable, constable Kuldeep Singh and driver Nirmal Singh.

The police said that at about 11:50am on Friday, the PCR received the information that a scooter-borne youth, without a registration number, snatched a woman’s purse in Manimajra. The accused was nabbed by the PCR staff at the Manimajra main market.

Two mobile phones were also recovered from the possession of the accused, identified as Harmeet alias Anwar, a resident of Sector 27. A case under section 356 (assault or criminal force in attempt to commit theft of property carried by a person), 379 (punishment for theft) and 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) of the Indian Penal code.

In another incident, the police nabbed a thief in Sector 45. During patrolling, the PCR staff found two persons removing tyres from auto-rickshaws parked in the market. On seeing the police, they tried to flee but one of them was nabbed by the police, while others managed to escape. The accused was identified as Amit, a resident of Burail. A case under section 379 (punishment for theft) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against him.


Karan, 7, a resident of Sector 28, who went missing, was recovered by the police from the PGI Chowk on Saturday. The police said the child went out to buy a cold drink but forgot the way to his house. After getting the details, the child was handed over to his parents.
