People thrash Khanna police, vandalise vehicle, help criminal flee

As the Khanna police raided a marriage function to secure the arrest of a criminal, declared a proclaimed offender in several cases, a group of people attacked the police party at Nangal village of Dehlon on Friday evening.

As the Khanna police raided a marriage function to secure the arrest of a criminal, declared a proclaimed offender in several cases, a group of people attacked the police party at Nangal village of Dehlon on Friday evening.

These people allegedly helped the criminal in fleeing from the spot and also tried to torch the police vehicle after vandalising it.

Meanwhile, the Dehlon police have initiated a probe. After the statement of the Khanna police, an FIR will be lodged, stated a Dehlon police official. As per the Khanna police, they were chasing hardcore criminal Gama, who allegedly had taken shelter at a place where a marriage function was going on.

When the police raided the place, the people present at the venue attacked the cops and also damaged their vehicle. The cops were rescued after the villagers intervened.

Dehlon station house officer (SHO) Inderjeet Singh said a suitable action would be taken after the Khanna police would record statement.
