Irrigation minister Janmeja Singh Sekhon on Saturday said people in the state had set a new milestone by handing over a historical mandate to the SAD-BJP alliance in the zila parishad and block samiti elections, as they supported the policies of the SAD-BJP government and a record development in Punjab.
"The verdict is a proof that people are fully impressed with the overall development works being carried out in the state and stand behind the government like a rock," Sekhon said.
"The Congress is a sinking ship and its workers are joining the SAD. The results of the zila parishad and block samiti elections indicate that the Congress will vanish from Punjab in the coming Lok Sabha elections and the SAD-BJP alliance will win all 13 seats."
Sekhon said, "The credit for the victory goes to the workers of the SAD-BJP alliance, who had worked with dedication. Due respect will be given to the workers in the party so that they continue to work with the same zeal."
