Four unidentified motorcyclists robbed Rs 1.5 lakh from the manager of a petrol pump, belonging to Congress MLA Ashwani Sekhri, on Batala-Amritsar bypass on Monday.

Vashino Das, the manager of the petrol pump, was on to bank to deposit Rs 1.5 lakh on his scooter, when he noticed four masked persons following him as he had gone barely meters from the petrol pump.

"One of the motorcyclists took out a dagger and attacked me. Unable to balance of the scooter, I fell down. The motorcyclists took out the cash from the boot of the scooter after injuring me," said Vashino Das, who was admitted to the civil hospital with serious injuries.

A police team, led by superintendent of police (detective) Paramjeet Singh, rushed to the spot and sounded an alert in the area.

Paramjeet Singh told mediapersons that the police have registered a case under section 392 of the IPC against unidentified persons. Investigations into the case are on, he added.
