Phagwara MC buys machinery worth Rs 1 cr for garbage disposal

The municipal corporation (MC) her has purchased machinery worth Rs 1.12 crore and handed it over to employees for field use on Monday. The MC has purchased two garbage tippers, two JCB machines, two tractor-trolleys along with a dozen of rickshaws for the lifting of garbage in the city.

Chief parliamentary secretary (CPS) and Phagwara MLA Som Parkash distributed keys to the employees during the inauguration ceremony here.

He said that the MC has spent Rs 1.12 crore on the purchase of the machinery and they would get the same amount from the state government under the Swachh Bharat Mission to ensure a clean city.

MC commissioner Iqbal Singh said that the MC, in collaboration with the Chennai-based Eco Garb International Company, has already installed three global positioning system (GPS)enabled smart bins for disposal of garbage.
