The pharmacist and other staff members of the hospital had allegedly demanded Rs 30,000 for issuing a medico-legal report to Jaswant, who was injured in a clash with his neighbours on Monday. Later, the deal was finalised at Rs 15,000.

On a complaint made by Jaswant, the SVB laid a trap to arrest the pharmacist and the other hospital staff allegedly involved in demanding the bribe.

According to the complaint, Jaswant paid Rs 5,000 to the pharmacist on Monday and had to clear the remaining amount on Tuesday.

Though the pharmacist was arrested, others allegedly involved in the matter managed to escape, Malik added.

A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered in this connection against the accused.
