A health department team was shocked on Tuesday after finding a 15-year-old boy administering injections and prescribing medicines to patients at a clinic run by his pharmacist father in Kundanpuri area of Ludhiana.

The raid was conducted in the afternoon after civil surgeon Dr Rajiv Bhalla received a complaint from a resident. A team led by drug inspector Rupinder Kaur found that boy with two patients. The team also found a list of 11 medicines with the patients.

“When asked about any certificate or qualification to prescribe medicines, the boy was not able to produce any document,” said Rupinder.

The owner of the clinic, Santokh Verma, was not present at the clinic at the time of the raid. “The boy told us that his father was admitted to a hospital due illness,” said Rupinder.

The team said the owner of the clinic will be booked under Drug and Cosmetic Act 1940. “The case will be presented in the court on Wednesday after which action will be taken against the owner on directions of the court,” said Rupinder.
