Players from Punjab to be specially trained for Olympic games, says deputy CM

"The Punjab government will provide special training to players for the next Olympics to ensure their better performance. The government has selected 11 games and the best players would be trained in and outside Punjab by world class trainers," said Sukhbir Singh Badal.

"The Punjab government will provide special training to players for the next Olympics to ensure their better performance. The government has selected 11 games and the best players would be trained in and outside Punjab by world class trainers," said Sukhbir Singh Badal, deputy chief minister of Punjab who visited Dhimawali village on Sunday evening on the concluding day of the 44th Baba Fakar Das kabaddi tournament in the village.

"The Punjab government is organising the world kabaddi cup matches for the past four years to promote the traditional game of Punjab. Earlier, the game was only confined to Punjab, but now it has come to be recognised at the national and international level," said Sukhbir.

He added the business houses were also hiring Kabaddi players to make their teams and players were getting big offers as far as jobs and other opportunities were concerned. "The SAD-BJP government has already said it will build sports stadiums at the block level to be completed in the next two years," said the deputy CM who also granted `10 lakh from his discretionary fund to the village club. About 264 kabaddi teams participated in the three-day kabaddi tournament.

The deputy chief minister was accompanied by Deep Malhotra; Kultar Singh Brar, Faridkot MLA, and president of the zila parishad, besides Mohammad Tayyab, DC Faridkot.
