Police arrest robber, recover stolen car

The city police on Monday arrested Ajay Gir, a resident of Chak Husainpur village, and recovered stolen car and robbed money from his possession, on Monday.

The city police on Monday arrested Ajay Gir, a resident of Chak Husainpur village, and recovered stolen car and robbed money from his possession, on Monday.

In a press conference, assistant commissioner of police (North) Amneet Kondal, Inspector Naresh Kumar Joshi said that Gir had been facing a murder case and was out on bail recently.

Officials further revealed that a case under sections 392 (robbery) of IPC was registered at police station-8 on February 23 in which complainant Naresh Kumar of Industrial Area alleged that four car borne youths looted Rs 14000, a mobile phone and costly watch from him and his friend.

They further added that while investigating case, it was found that Ajay Gir along with Varun Kumar of Shiv Nagar, Radhe Shyam of Aman Nagar and Ranjit of New Gobind Nagar were involved in that robbery.

Acting on tip-off, the police arrested Ajay Gir from Hoshiarpur road and recovered car which was stolen by them from Sudershan Park in Maqsudan on February 18.

Officials also told that Ajay and other accomplices had committed as many as 20 such robberies in the city and other accused will also be nabbed soon.
