Police arrest two for bomb hoax scare in Jalandhar

The city police have arrested two persons accused of making the alleged bomb hoax call on March 3 evening in BSF colony where in a substance was placed near the gate of the house of a businessman on Tuesday,.

The accused have been identified as Sunny Kumar of New Shiv Nagar and Dhanjay Malhotra of Shiv Nagar. In a press conference, the police officials informed that the accused Sunny was earlier working in the factory of businessman Satish Mittal. “He allegedly hatched a conspiracy with his friend Dhanjay to get a ransom of five lakh from Satish Kumar Mittal by creating panic in Mittal’s family after placing the bomb outside his house,” informed the police officials.

Sunny called businessman Satish two times to inform about the bomb. On the basis of the technical probe, the police arrested the two accused. Police have also seized a mobile phone, bike, and others from their possession. A case under relevant Sections of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against them.

The hoax call had left the city police in panic and the police force accompanied by an anti-sabotage team with sniffer dogs had rushed to the locality. The team on reaching the spot found an electric battery attached with a timer.
