Police arrests four for theft, drug peddling

Police on Sunday arrested four people and recovered stolen items and drugs from them, officials said.

Two of them, Sikander and Raman, both residents of Qila Mohalla, were held by the Daresi police. They were found driving a stolen car and possessed 700gm charas and 1kg narcotics.

SHO of police station Daresi, sub-inspector Sanjeev Kapoor told HT a police party stopped the two for checking and found that the registration plate of the vehicle did not match the documents. He said the two accused confessing to having stolen the car and said they were on their way to supply drugs to their customers.

Kapoor said the accused have a criminal track record and added that further investigating is on in the case.

In the second incident, police arrested two persons and recovered a stolen motorcycle and a mobile phone from their possession. The accused have been identified as Sharanjeet Singh and Sonu Garcha.

Sub-inspector Surinder Chopra, SHO of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) police station said the two were nabbed during a patrol at Hambran road.

The accused, he said, confessed to their crimes including loot and snatching.

Police have registered cases against all the accused under relevant sections of the IPC and also booked them for being habitual criminals.
