Police book 24 people for blocking traffic

The Division 2 police have booked 24 people for blocking road in an unauthorised manner. The accused blocked traffic on Old Jail Road for at least 45 minutes seeking arrest of Gurinder Pal Singh and Varinder Pal Singh for abetting 50-year- old Inderjit Singh to suicide.

A case under section 283 of the IPC has been registered against Raghubir Singh of Tagore Garden of Yamuna Nagar, Anvant Singh of Mohalla Fatesh Gunj, Sukhpreet Singh of Tajgunj and Soni and 20 unidentified people.

Division 2 SHO inspector Kuldeep Singh said he had gone to the civil hospital to investigate the suicide committed by Inderjit Singh of Field Gunj area on Friday.

The SHO said that accused had put Inderjit's body on the road and blocked the traffic, leading to traffic jam and causing inconvenience to the people.

No arrest has been made so far in this context.

It has been pertinent to mention that Inderjit Singh had hanged self on Thursday. A case under section 306 of IPC was registered against his cousin brothers Gurinder Pal Singh and Varinder Pal Singh for abetment to suicide.

Earlier on Septemebr 8, the police had registered a case of blocking traffic against unemployed TET teachers, who had blocked traffic at Bharat Nagar Chowk for at least 7 hours.

The police had also booked Hindu Morcha president Varun Mehtaand and 30 others for blocking traffic in front of residence of deputy excise and taxation commissioner Rishipal on September 5.
