Police bust gang of cylinder thieves

The district police claimed to have busted a gang of LPG cylinder thieves, and booked four people including a woman. The police have arrested Gurpal Singh, Sukhjeet Singh and Kulwinder Singh from Deh Kalan village of the district, whereas the woman Rajia of Gobindgarh is still at large.

Sangrur deputy superintendent of police Gurpreet Singh said, "Central Intelligence Agency Bahadur Singh Wala got information that a group of four people were selling gas cylinders illegally. Acting on the tip, the police managed to arrest three people and recovered 21 cylinders costing a total of Rs 52,500 from their possession."

The DSP said during the interrogation, the accused admitted their offence and further investigation is on to arrest the accused woman Rajia. All the accused have been booked under Sections 379, 411 and 414 of the Indian Penal Code and the police would seek remand for more interrogation, he added.
