Police commissioner Paramraj Singh Umranangal on Thursday suspended the station house officers (SHOs) of Shimlapuri and Daba here over the charges of misconduct.
A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against Shimlapuri SHO inspector Jagjit Singh, and the report says he let a burglary accused off the hook after accepting bribe. Daba SHO sub-inspector Rajesh Thakur was suspended for not following the orders of senior officers.
At the Division Number 2 police station here, a case was registered on Wednesday against two people accused of stealing cash from their employer's shop. Cops from the Shimlapuri police station frisked them at the Gill road checkpoint. SHO Jagjit Singh is accused of accepting Rs 2 lakh from them to let them pass.
On Thursday, when the Division number 2 police arrested the accused and questioned them about the cash, they came out with the entire story. In the case of Daba SHO Rajesh Thakur, he had orders to raid a brothel - which he did - and register a case, which he didn't. On Thursday, assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Ashok Puri filed a report against him with the senior officials.
Deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Narinder Bhargava has confirmed the development and said new officers had replaced the suspended cops.
