Police and municipal corporation officials will be stationed in front of two hotels and a marriage hall on Ferozepur road whenever a function is held at these venues in coming days. The decision has been taken so that no vehicle is allowed to be parked in the parking lots in front of these establishments as per the high court (HC) order. The HC had directed that parking space should be provided by these establishments within their premises. The two hotels include Nagpal Regency and Friends Regency, whereas wedding venue Embassy Palace has also been included in the list. MC commissioner Rahul Tewari has served notices to these three establishments on December 23 asking that no vehicle should be allowed in parking along the Ferozepur road in front of these establishments as per the HC order on December 11. Notices asked the establishments to provide parking space within seven days.

An MC team, including additional commissioner Isha Kalia and other officials visited all 13 parking lots on Ferozepur road and these three establishments that were served notices on Sunday.

Local commissioners appointed by the HC had visited Ludhiana on December 7 and had exposed in their report that these establishments did not have proper parking space space of their own.

Jasdev Sekhon, superintendent of Tehbazari wing of zone D, who also accompanied the team that visited these establishments on Sunday, said these establishments have acquired some space in form of plots to be used as their own parking space.

Sources said Embassy Palace has failed to create proper parking space that has also come in the notice of the MC officials. The HC order has also stated that no social gathering or function should take place in absence of proper parking space.

Sekhon said that he has received the list of functions from Nagpal and Friends regency hotels but not from Embassy palace. "Police would be stationed in front of these establishments whenever there would be a function so that no vehicle is parked in the parking lot in front of these hotels and marriage palace," said Sekhon.

The step is expected to hit the establishments as several parties are organised during this time of the year.

Encroachment removed
The Tehbazari team that took a stock of parking lots along the Ferozepur road on Sunday, also removed encroachment in front of SRS Omax Mall.
