The Amritsar police claim to have arrested the prime accused in the kidnapping and murder case of an 11-year-old boy. Five accused in this case were arrested earlier and prime accused Prince was at large.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, police commissioner RP Mittal said, "Prince was the immediate neighbour of Sushant and the motive of kidnapping was ransom."

Prince had made the plan with the co-accused and kidnapped Sushant on June 12. Though the accused killed Sushant the same day, they kept making ransom calls and demanded Rs 1 crore from the family, said the commissioner.

"Getting money was the only motive behind the kidnapping. We have recovered the cell phone with which Prince made the ransom calls to the family, said Mittal.

After the boy was kidnapped on June 12, the family had received a threatening call on the same day. On June 16, the kidnappers demanded Rs 1 crore from the family.

As the city police were trying to locate the boy, the police came to know that the accused had killed Sushant.
Adding to the agony of the family, the Tarn Taran police had cremated the body after finding it as it could not be identified.
