The police have started questioning the male friends and those having business dealings with corporate lawyer Sukhmanpreet Singh Talwandi, alias Sippy Sidhu, who was murdered in a Sector 27 park on September 20 night.
One of the victim’s male friends already questioned has been identified as one Girdhar, whose name also had a mention in the diary that Sippy had found near his house about a month back. The diary reportedly had fallen off the car that was following Sippy and was handed over by him to the SAS Nagar police. The police said they were trying to find out whether or not Girdhar too felt threatened.
As per the police, some employees of the call centre owned by Sippy Sidhu had stated that he was facing threats. Now the police were cross-confirming from Sippy’s friends about the threats and trying to know the reason behind them.
The crime branch officials of the SAS Nagar police had also called Girdhar to get the property details as he had the power of attorney of an UK-based NRI, who invested money for buying land for a housing project in Amritsar. ASP Guriqbal Singh confirmed that victim’s friends were being questioned to find out who were threatening Sippy.
The family of Sippy Sidhu too had raised suspicion over his friends. The mobile phone of the victim is yet to be unlocked. The cops were scanning the Sippy’s laptop to get clues.
Love-affair angle still main focus
Officials were trying to contact the women who were in touch with Sippy, especially the one residents saw speeding away from the crime scene. A woman had called Sippy from four different numbers, the police have found.
