Police register 31 abduction cases in a day

The police seem to have woken up from its slumber as it registered 31 kidnapping cases on Friday. The development came after Supreme Court recently directed Bihar and Chhattisgarh to trace missing children, who have poor record in doing so.

Out of 31cases, there are some children who have been missing for more than one year. The police have booked unidentified persons in all such cases.

Division number 1 police registered the abduction case of 16-year-old Charandeep Singh, said to be mentally disabled, from Trunk Wala bazaar area. The boy is missing since August 14, 2013.
Division number 2 police registered two abduction cases, one of Saurav Babu of Mohalla Muradpura, missing since October 26, 2013, and the other of a woman, Manju of Islam Gunj, who has been missing along with her daughter Ritika from March 18, 2013.

The cops of division number 5 police station registered three such cases on Friday. Prabjit (16) of New Shimlapuri, Sham Raj of Daad village and Parduman (15) of Kanganwal have been missing since August 18, 2014, August 1, 2014 and October 24, 2013, respectively.

The division number 6 police registered a kidnapping case in connection with the disappearance of 12-year-old Sonu of Janakpuri. Sonu is missing since January 3, 2014.

Two cases were registered by division number 7 police. One case pertains to seven-year-old Anisha of Chandigarh road, who is missing since July 10, 2014, and the other of Gauri of Sanjay Gandhi Colony who went missing on September 2, 2013.

Haibowal police registered two cases- abduction of 13-year-old Santokh Kumar of Amrit Nagar and 16-year-old Arjun Chanda of Durgapuri. Santokh went missing on October 20 this year and Arjun on April 1, 2014.
Model Town police have registered a case in connection with the disappearance of Sahil (15) of Abdullapur Basti. He has been missing since October 28, 2014.

Salem Tabri police have registered a case against unidentified person in connection with the abduction of Amit Kumar (13) of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, who is missing since October 7, 2013.

Similarly, the Salem Tabri police registered five such cases, Basti Jodhewal police registered three, Ladhowal police two, Shimlapuri police one, Focal Point police four and Daba police registered two such cases. Dugri and PAU police have registered one case each against unidentified accused for abductions.
