Police search hotels near bus stand

In view of Republic Day celebrations, the Amritsar police on Tuesday conducted surprise checking of hotels near city bus stand.

A comprehensive search of hotels in bus stand area comes after a couple of days when police had conducted a checking inside the bus stand.

Police also examined the identity of people staying at the hotels and issued necessary guidelines to the hoteliers.
As many as 70 cops carried out the entire checking that started around 5pm.

Divulging details, additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP-City 1) Parampal Singh said, "With Republic Day round the corner, police are on their toes and the surprise checking was a part of it."

"We are searching hotels for any suspicious person and to find whether the hoteliers are maintaining a proper record of their guests," he added.

The ADCP stressed that the hoteliers had been informed to immediately inform police if they notice any suspicious activity by their customer.

Notably, keeping view hat Amritsar is a border district, already the police is on alert and extra force was deployed in the city. The Police had extensively checked the Amritsar Railway station on Monday.
