Now the police need not wait for help of forensic science team to initiate investigation at a crime scene. The department has upgraded all the 29 police stations in the city with scientific investigation kits.
With the kit, the police will preserve blood samples and other clues from the scene of crime without wasting time. The police will also record the crime scene in the digital camera provided with the kit.
The scientific investigation kit contains 20 megapixel digital camera, pen drive, a kit to procure finger prints from the crime scene and also the finger prints of suspects. The kit also contains torch, compass, magnifying glass, masks, gloves, and containers, stationary and cordon off tapes.
The police officers said in the past they were forced to wait for forensic science team to initiate investigation in a case of crime occurred in their respective areas. With the kits they could initiate investigation immediately after reaching the spot.
The containers in the kits will help the police in collecting the blood samples in case of murder and other clues. Earlier, the police used to collect such samples in plastic containers, which were procured from market immediately after the crime.
DCP Naveen Singla said, “The police will protect crime scenes with the help of cordon tape. Earlier, the onlookers used to spoil the crime scene by stepping in.” The DCP said the scientific kits would help the police to solve the cases.
