Accusing a Tarn Taran resident of duping her and sexually exploiting her after promising marriage, a Polish woman has approached the city police.
The woman, who is currently studying in the UK, met Amritsar police commissioner Jatinder Singh Aulakh and demanded action against the man, whom she claimed had come to India and married another woman.
In her complaint, the Polish national said the accused came into contact with her in the UK in 2014 and developed physical relations with her, following which she got pregnant.
The man allegedly promised to marry her, but returned to India when his visa expired. When she came to know that he had got married, she decided to come to India.
On June 10, the woman reached India and went to the man’s house with the help of his friend. However, he allegedly did not allow her to enter the house and made her stay in a hotel in Amritsar.
Again promising that he would marry her after going to the UK, he allegedly kept her in hotels in Amritsar and exploited her sexually.
Till late Monday evening, the woman was sitting in the local E division police station, where she told cops that she wanted to meet the man first before going ahead with action.
Talking to HT, ACP (central) Amandeep Brar said, “The woman came to the police station after meeting the police commissioner. But she has told us that she will meet that man first. If she is not satisfied, we will register a case.”
