Power station gutted in Fazilka town; loss pegged at rs 20 crore

Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd on Thursday suffered a loss of about Rs 20 crore as its power station at Mandi Ladhuka, a rural town under the Fazilka district, was gutted on Thursday afternoon.

Four fire-tenders from neighbouring areas were pressed into service and they could douse the blaze after struggling nearly for three hours. Meanwhile, power supply to more than 20 villages got severed and officials were trying to restore the electricity supply till the filing of the report.
