PPCB catches 2 dyeing units at wrong foot

Punjab Pollution Control Board on Wednesday morning raided 7 dyeing units of Ludhiana and found effluent treatment plants of two of them not in operation.

Punjab Pollution Control Board on Wednesday morning raided 7 dyeing units of Ludhiana and found effluent treatment plants of two of them not in operation.


Disclosing this to press, member secretary of the board Babu Ram said six teams under the supervision of senior environmental engineer Harbir Singh raided the Seven dyeing units situated on Tajpur Road, Ludhiana.

“The effluent treatment plants of M/s Kairavi Processor and M/s Shri Bala Ji Processor were found not in operation. Other unit, M/s MTech Processor, started the ETP just when the raiding team entered its premises,” he said.

He said the board would send the notices for violation of norms to the defaulting units.

PPCB chairman Ravinder Singh said such raids would continue to ensure that factories do keep their effluent treatment plants operational.

He said make the state greener and cleaner, cooperation of the industrialists was a must.
