Taking another jab at Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Partap Singh Bajwa, Congress deputy leader in the Lok Sabha Captain Amarinder Singh remarked that if Bajwa wants to attend the rally, he can convey his views and availability to Kapurthala MLA Rana Gurjeet, who is coordinating the rally.
Meanwhile, Amarinder reiterated that the January 22 Amritsar rally is going to be "purely a constituency rally", which will be organised by the party leadership of the Amritsar parliamentary constituency with senior leaders.
Amarinder said the organisers had made it categorically clear that they did not need the PCC to get itself involved with it in any manner.
He also questioned the PCC claims that it had already announced to hold a rally at Amritsar on January 22.
"Claiming that the rally had been already announced, when no such announcement had been made by the PCC earlier, amounts to spreading lies and falsehood," he observed.
"Had there been any such programme decided or announced earlier, at least the Amritsar leaders, including the MP, the MLAs and the district presidents of rural and urban units should have known about it," he pointed out.
He asked, "Why should they propose a rally if they knew that a rally was already scheduled there on the same day?"
The former chief minister said, "As already stated, the rally on January 22 in Amritsar is purely a constituency rally with senior party leaders assigned with the job of organising it and the PCC comes nowhere in the picture."
He added that they would be helped and supported by the colleagues and friends from the neighbouring districts of Tarn Taran and Gurdaspur and also from the rest of Punjab.
