Alleged police torture on two SC women by the local police sparked a protests in Dharamkot area on Wednesday late evening. Husbands of these women were booked in case of clash between PPP-Akali supporters on July 30.

Harbans Kaur (39) and Baljeet Kaur (40) have claimed that they were tortured by the police with even DSP Sukhdev Singh Brar thrashing them.

Harbans Kaur's husband Satpal Singh and Baljeet Kaur's husband Jagtar Singh and her son Amandeep Singh were booked alongwith PPP youth leader Davinderjeet Laddi Dhose.

PPP leaders from across the area gathered at Kaila village and a protest was organised. "Police are working on the directions of Akali leaders and it is shameful," said PPP Kissan Wing president Kuldeep Singh Dhose.

"No incident of torture has happened in the district. The protest is an attempt to divert attention by those who are evading arrest," said Moga SSP Surjeet Singh Garewal, while rubbishing all allegations.
