Supplementing its political agenda of CBI or any other independent third party probe in the involvement of political bigwigs of Punjab in the multi-crores drug-nexus, the People's Party of Punjab (PPP) today decided to launch a counseling campaign, "Putt Bachao Muhim' from February 1 onwards.

The two fold agenda behind the campaign, which was disclosed by PPP president Manpreet Badal to newsmen after the meet of central executive of party and district presidents, includes counseling the drug-addicts and their families against the evil effects and to explore the sources from where the drugs are supplied to addicts.

"From February 1 onwards, this campaign would launch in the each district of the state and we will have direct interaction with the victim families in the presence of doctors and psychologists. Punjab needs to save its sons from falling in the drug trap. We will take up this issue as a mass contact programme," he said.

"The entire party structure including districts and block presidents will fan out the length and breadth of the state to tackle the issue. We will also focus on their de-addiction," he said while adding that, "Our party apprehends that with the withdrawal of US and NATO troops from Afghanistan, there will be an upsurge in the drug smuggling in the state."

Manpreet also ruled out alliance with any party in the state. "The success of Aam Aadmi Party as enthused the workers of our party which were demoralized after the debacle in assembly elections. We have very honest and committed leaders with us who had been standing against the system despite of enormous political pressure on them. Aidde wadde devtean de khilaf kharhe rehna vi himmat di gull hai (It is itself a big achievement to stand against political giants.)," he said.

AAP has also showed the path to big political parties for setting their agendas and by-and-large, it is the victory of common man in the country; Manpreet says adding that, "The AAP is yet at evolution state and it is too early to comment on their ideology."

In the executive meeting, PPP also demanded the subsidy in public transport system in the state. "We cannot develop roads on the cost of fields. Reducing expenses on public transportation, like it is there in European countries, will save lots on the fuel prices and it would be helpful for the state economy also."
