Prem Chopra gets lifetime achievement honour

Big names of Punjabi music and cinema converged at the holy city on Saturday night during the 6th Punjabi film and music festival organised by Sur Saanjh in association with Amritsar College of Engineering and Technology (ACET) at the college campus.

Big names of Punjabi music and cinema converged at the holy city on Saturday night during the 6th Punjabi film and music festival organised by Sur Saanjh in association with Amritsar College of Engineering and Technology (ACET) at the college campus.


Veteran actor Prem Chopra was among the prominent personalities who were present at the event and was bestowed with lifetime achievement honour for contribution to Punjabi cinema. Wadali Brothers were honoured with lifetime achievement honour for Punjabi music and Charanjit Ahuja was given special honour of 'The Living Legend of Punjabi Music'.

The Surinder Kaur honour for female singer was given to Manpreet Akhtar, Kuldip Manak honour for male singer to Sarbjit Cheema, Yash Sharma honour for character artistes to Shivinder Mahal and Goonj Punjab Di Special honour was given to Nachhatar Gill.

The special honour for Lok-Gayaki De Shah-Aswaar was given to Harbhajan Mann, Gursewak Mann, the Varinder honour for director to Ksshitij Chaudhary, Gurkirtan honour for negative role to Kartar Cheema, most prominent and popular face of 2012-13 award to Mandy Takhar, best debutant actor (female) award to Sureeli Gautam, best debutant actor (male) to Jasraj Bhatti, Gopal Sehgal honour for comedy to Rana Ranbir, Shiv K Batalvi honour for lyricist to Shamsher Sandhu, Jaswant Bhanwra honour for music director to Sachin Ahuja, NRI category actor special honour to Gursharan Mann, Sufi Sitara special honour to Satinder Sartaj, Balraj Sahni honour for best actor (female) to Gurleen Chopra while Balraj Sahni honor for best actor (male) was given to Arya Babbar.

Harbhajan Mann, Gursewak Mann, Satinder Sartaj, Sarabjit Cheema, Nachhatar Gill, Manpreet Akhtar and Rana Ranbir added colour to the event with their power-packed performances.

The event was dedicated to the album 'Satrangi Peengh 2' of Harbhajan Mann. Girl students of Guru Nanak Dev University gave a special performance dedicated to 'Satrangi Peengh 2' while the students of ACET also performed at the event.
