Former chief minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Prem Kumar Dhumal on Thursday applauded the working of private institutions in the state in general and Hamirpur in particular.
He said these institutions were delivering good results every year.
While addressing a function at the local Gautam Group of Colleges, he said with the coming up of new private institutions in the state people had now been offered an opportunity of higher education at their door steps.
Earlier, he inaugurated a new building of the college, which has been constructed at a cost of Rs 4 crore.
Dhumal also called upon the students to simultaneously devote their time towards studies and sports as both were a must for over all development of students.
The former chief minister, on this occasion, also distributed prizes to the students. He also announced a grant of Rs 20,000 for the college from his own funds.
Earlier, Jagdish Gautam, the chairman of the Gautam Group of Colleges gave details of the working of the group.
