Preparations are in a full swing for the national-level Holi festival that will start on March 3 and continue for four days in Sujanpur Tihra.
The annual festival will be organised at the historic chaugan of the town. The festival, as per the locals, indicates setting in of summer.
The district administration has formed committees for the successful completion of the festival that draws a huge gathering every year. In order to check the activities of the anti-social elements, the administration has decided to install CCTV cameras in parts of the town. Sujanpur sub divisional magistrate has been made the mela officer.
Deputy commissioner Rohan Chand Thakur said that adequate number of security personals would be deployed during the festival for successful and peaceful completion of the same.
He said that besides cultural programmes, sports and other sorts of competitions would also be organised and winners would be given prizes by the organising committee.
Meanwhile, the locals are upset as reportedly chief minister Virbhadra Singh would not be present to inaugurate the festival due to marriage of his daughter. Last year too, the chief minister could not visit the town because of the model code of conduct launched due to Lok sbaha elections.
However, there are reports that other senior cabinet ministers are likely to take part in the festival and there is also a possibility of governor Kalyan Singh attending the end day of the function.
