On December 20, they moved him from the sub jail to the hospital since his blood sugar level had also jumped. “After he escaped at 3am, I asked superintendent of police (detective) Narinder Singh Bedi to gather all station house officers (SHOs) of the Pathankot jurisdiction and seal all possible exits,” said the SSP.

A hunt is on for the two absconded policemen as well. Trackers have gone to Ludhiana, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahar and Amritsar. A dog squad is also at work. The police suspect that a woman who gave her identity as Jeevan Jyoti at the hospital, stayed with the accused for the past few days, and saw him many times in the jail is involved in the escape.
