The Jhajjar chapter of Indian Medical Association (IMA) and National Integrated Medical Association has called for a strike on Tuesday by terming the police action against private doctors under the PC-PNDT Act in January arbitrary and erroneous.
Notably, a team of state health department had raided four ultrasound centers in Jhajjar district and lodged a FIR under Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act and PC-PNDT after finding discrepancies in the records.
"The health department can issue show-cause notices to doctors and seal their ultrasound machines in case of minor irregularities in ultrasound record," Garg said. He said that according to the Act, the punitive action like lodging of FIR can be taken only if the doctor is caught red handed terminating pregnancy illegally.
He said that all the private clinic at Jhajjar would remain closed to mark their resentment against health department action against private doctors.
