The private school students have secured better results than their gover nment school counterparts in Class-12 results of Punjab School Education Board (PSEB), declared on Sunday.
However, in medical stream, Simran Grewal of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), topped in the district. Also Muskaan Verma of Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Fazilka, topped in the state nonmedical stream with 99.56% marks by scoring 448 out of 450 marks.
Total 108 students of the district have made their presence felt in merit list and Ludhiana has the highest number of merit positions in the state.
Out of these 108 merit holders, only eight students are from the government schools. These students are Simran Grewal (96%), Inderjot Kaur (94%) and Anjali Mittal (93.78%) of Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), PAU; Mehema (93.78%) and Simranjit Kaur (93.33%) of Gover nment Model Senior Secondary School, Miller Ganj, Dholewal; Piyush Sharma (93.56%) of Government Senior Secondary School for Girls, Samrala; and Amandeep Kumar (93.33%) of Government Senior Secondary School, Dehlon.
Rohit Pal , a student of Government Senior Secondary School for Boys, Multipurpose, scored 423 out of 450 marks (94%) in the commerce stream.
In private schools, Kanika Singla, non-medical stream, of Bharatiya Vidya Mandir, USN, who was ranked 11th in state with 432 out of 450 marks (96%), was ranked second in the district.
Reshmi Naaz, commerce stream, of BCM Senior Secondary School, Focal Point and Maliza of Gur u Model Senior Secondary School, Dholewal, who scored 429 marks (95.33%), shared second position in the district. Madhvi, humanities, of BCM Senior Secondary School, Focal Point, scored 96%, was ranked 11th in the state and second in the district.
