Prof Dinesh Gupta to be new DUI at Panjab University

Panjab University (PU) syndicate on Sunday approved Professor Dinesh Kumar Gupta’s name for the post of the new dean university instructions.

Panjab University (PU) syndicate on Sunday approved Professor Dinesh Kumar Gupta’s name for the post of the new dean university instructions.

Dr Gupta is a professor at the University Business School (UBS), PU. The syndicate also approved the proposal to appoint Prof Sanjeev Puri as the honorary director of the centre for industry institute partnership programme (CIIPP) for three years.

Prof Puri is working as professor in the biotechnology branch of UIET at PU. He has three patents and presented papers in several national and international conferences. An ‘in-principle’ approval for creation of position of associate dean students welfare was also granted.

The matter will now be considered by the board of finance and after that, the matter will again be considered by the syndicate for final nod.

However, the syndicate on Sunday referred 11 more agenda items regarding temporary extension of affiliation to a committee formed in this regard.

Others items that got syndicate nod

1) Guideline for the junior research fellow (JRF) students doing PhD, as per which they will be required to be present at the university department or an approved research centre for minimum 36 weeks, including course work.

2) Membership of staff club community centre will be compulsory for all university teaching and non-teaching staff. The membership fee will be Rs 100 per month and Rs 75 per month for employees getting pay in pay band 4 and pay band 3, respectively. It will be Rs 50 per month for remaining staff.

3) The change in schedule for printing of preliminary register and address for the senate election voters also got nod. Existing voters can change their addresses till June 22
