The police have booked two persons for posing as army officers and duping a Himachal Pradesh man of Rs 1 lakh on the pretext of getting him recruited in the army.
Hardial Singh of Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, submitted that he came in contact with Ranjit Singh of Hoshiarpur and Ashwani Kumar of Krishna Colony of Ludhiana a few months ago. The duo had introduced themselves as army officials and assured him of securing a job for him in the army in exchange of Rs 2.5 lakh.
He alleged that the duo asked him to meet them at the Ludhiana bus stand on October 2, where he gave them Rs 1 lakh, while the remaining was to be paid after his recruitment. The men issued a slip to him and asked him to meet army recruitment officers. Hardial claimed that when he approached the army officials, they told him that the slip was fake.
He also claimed that the men had also duped one of his relatives, Pritpal of Rs 40,000, also on the pretext of recruitment in the army.
ASI Balwinder Singh at Division Number 5 station, said a case under sections 420 (cheating), 465 (forgery), 467 (forgery of valuable security, will, etc.), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document), 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and 170 (posing as a public servant) of the IPC had been registered against the accused.
