Jamalpur Police booked a property dealer for drugging and raping his wife at his office in Bhamiyan. The couple, however, is living separately and their divorce case is pending with court. The accused has been identified as Deepak Sachdeva of Janakpuri area.

A case was registered under sections 376 (rape) and 328 (causing hurt by means of poison, etc., with intent to commit an offence) of the Indian penal code against the accused on Tuesday.

In her complaint, the victim said she married the accused on October 4, 2008. She alleged that after marriage her husband started harassing and torturing her. After the birth of the girl, she left her husband's house and started living at Shaheed Karnail Singh Nagar.

The woman alleged that as their daughter was living with her father, the accused used to call her to his office to meet the child.

The woman further alleged that when she used to go to his office, the accused used to offer her a cold drink laced with drugs and when she would get unconscious, the accused used to rape her.

Assistant sub-inspector Som Nath, who is investigating the matter, said the police have launched a manhunt to arrest the accused.
