Protest held for release of Bains brothers and supporter

punjab Updated: Apr 21, 2015 12:12 IST

The members of Insaaf Prapti Manch in large numbers came in support of Bains brothers on Monday, demanding the cancellation of the cases registered against the Bains brothers and their supporters.

The members gathered outside the deputy commissioner's (DC) office and staged a protest against the state government. The members condemned the action taken against the Bains brothers and their 'Insaaf' team members who started Satyagraha against the sand mafia. They said the arrested persons should be released.

State convenor of Insaaf Prapti Manch and former MLA, Tarsem Jodhan, along with the other members staged the protest and raised slogans against the state government.

“We have been raising our voice against the sand mafia but the state government has failed to listen to us. This government is hand in gloves with the sand mafia. We are supporting all those including Bains brothers who raised voice against the sand mafia.”

Addressing the gathering, he said, “The police had registered a case under several section including 307 (attempt to murder) against them and it is very unfortunate. Instead of taking action against the sand mafia, the state government is taking action against the whistle blowers.”

"The situation is similar to the emergency when Indira Gandhi was the prime minister of India. The state government wants to suppress the voice of the people," he claimed.

The members of the Centre of Indian Trade Union also supported the protest.
